SocioHub - Sociology Information Service

Since 2016, the Specialized Information Service (FID) Sociology has been part of the Specialized Information Services for Science program funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and run jointly by the University and City Library, the GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences and the Qualiservice Research Data Center research data center.

 

SocioHub - the central portal for sociological research & networking

 

On SocioHub researchers can make their activities visible, coordinate projects and exchange ideas with the community.

 

The most important functions at a glance:

  • Collaborative groups: Work together on research topics, share materials, organize projects and start discussions.
  • Pre-registration of research projects: Document studies in a structured way, publish them transparently and ensure scientific quality.
  • Research Data Management (RDM): Subject-specific information and advice on archiving, documenting and reusing sociological research data.
  • Open Access Journal Hosting: Support with the founding or migration of OA journals - including technical infrastructure.
  • SOCIOS - Open Peer Review Platform: Openly review preprints in the social sciences and promote transparent peer review processes.
  • Sociology research portal: Access to specialist literature, research data, open access articles and available full texts - centrally in one place.
  • Academic profiles & ORCID integration: Publication lists, ORCID links and tools for presenting your own academic work.

With over 3,700 members and more than 100 public groups, SocioHub is one of the most important digital infrastructures for sociology in the German-speaking world.

SocioHub journal bundle 2026-2028 - sustainable funding for open access journals

The FID Sociology is continuing the successful open access bundle in the social sciences funded by the KOALA project in the period 2026-2028.

Thanks to the support of 80 scientific institutions from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, the permanent funding of central sociological open access journals is ensured:
