The year 2024 marked the 200th anniversary of the death of Ferdinand Franz Wallraf (1748–1824). As a collector, scholar, and visionary, he had a lasting impact on Cologne’s cultural life. The WASTA street art festival took a critical and creative look at his legacy and brought both temporary and permanent works of art into Cologne’s public spaces.
The WASTA exhibition presents artworks created during the festival in Cologne. The photographs were taken by New York street art photographer Martha Cooper as well as by photographers from Cologne. The exhibition offers insights into the diverse artistic works and the atmosphere of the festival.
The book “WASTA – WALLRAF STREET ART” has now been published: a comprehensive documentation featuring striking photographs—including those by New York star photographer Martha Cooper—as well as texts that provide deep insights into the creation of the artworks and the organization of the festival.
