City life - photographs from the Kölnische Rundschau 1968 - 1989
In cooperation with the GREVEN STIFTUNG we present an exhibition of press photographs from the picture archive of the Kölnische Rundschau.
05.05. - 07.08.2022
Parking meters and Colonius, bank failure and Helmut Kohl: as an interface between science and urban society, we are showing press photographs from the picture archive of the Kölnische Rundschau in cooperation with the Irene and Sigurd Greven Foundation and looking at the cultural-historical significance of photo archives. Pictures by Cologne's best-known press photographers can be seen in the exhibition - among them Brigitte Stachowski, Hansherbert Wirtz and Hans-G. Meisenberg.
The photos were taken between 1968 and 1989 and show a colourful and exciting cross-section of the cultural, economic and social life of the city of Cologne at that time - with state visits and criminal cases, but also allotment gardens and aerobics enthusiasm. The everyday world of Cologne in the 70s and 80s comes alive in journalistic images and is intended to give you an incentive for personal contemplation of Cologne's urban history presented here.
