You can set up electronic reserve collections for your lectures and seminars via ILIAS. This enables your students to access the most important materials for your events online.

We support lecturers at the University of Cologne in setting up electronic reserve collections for the following:

• Scanning of articles and parts of books from the USB inventory
• Assisting with the hosting of multimedia learning objects
• Providing assistance with copyright issues

Important note on existing copyright:

It is your responsibility as the client to observe the copyrights and exploitation rights of third parties.

§ 60 of the German Copyright Act (UrhG) regulates the legally permitted uses for teaching, science and institutions and also covers the provision of materials in electronic semester apparatus.

Pursuant to § 60a UrhG "Unterricht und Lehre", the reproduction and making available of

• up to 15 % of a plant (successive supply of plant parts and thus circumvention of the 15 % rule is not allowed)
• individual contributions and articles from specialist journals or scientific journals
• works of small size with a maximum total length of 25 pages. Illustrations and graphics may be shown or used in full
• out-of-print books (which may be used completely without permission)

Information on access restriction:

• Materials that fall under § 60a UrhG (German Copyright Act) may not be made freely available on websites of the Chair or on any other non-access-restricted (cloud-based) platform.

• The accessibility of digitised teaching materials is to be restricted to the circle of participants of a course (if necessary, technical assurance of access restriction by password/access key).

Wichtiger Hinweis zum bestehenden Urheberrecht:

Die Einhaltung von Urheber- und Verwertungsrechten Dritter liegt in Ihrer Verantwortung als Auftraggeber.

§ 60 des UrhG regelt die gesetzlich erlaubten Nutzungen für Unterricht, Wissenschaft und Institutionen und erfasst auch die Bereitstellung von Materialien in elektronischen Semesterapparaten.

Gestattet sind nach § 60a UrhG „Unterricht und Lehre“ die Vervielfältigung und Zugänglichmachung von

• bis zu 15 % eines Werkes (eine sukzessive Bereitstellung  von Werkteilen und somit die Umgehung der 15 %-Regelung ist nicht gestattet)
• einzelnen Beiträgen und Aufsätzen aus Fachzeitschriften oder wissenschaftlichen Zeitschriften
• Werken geringen Umfangs mit einem maximalen Gesamtumfang von 25 Seiten. Abbildungen und Grafiken dürfen vollständig gezeigt bzw. verwendet werden
• vergriffenen Büchern (welche vollständig erlaubnisfrei verwendet werden dürfen)

Informationen zur Zugriffsbeschränkung:

• Materialien, die unter § 60a UrhG fallen, dürfen weder frei auf Webseiten des Lehrstuhls noch auf einer anderen nicht zugriffsbeschränkten (cloud-basierten) Plattform bereitgestellt werden.
• Die Zugänglichkeit digitalisierter Unterrichtsmaterialien ist auf den Kreis der Teilnehmenden einer Lehrveranstaltung zu beschränken (ggf. technische Sicherstellung der Zugriffsbeschränkung durch durch Passwort/Zugriffsschlüssel).
