Central purchase of ebooks for the campus
The UCL is the service centre for the campus-wide acquisition of ebooks. The UCL ebook team has profound knowledge of the diverse licensing and distribution models of the publishers and also makes this available to the institute libraries for their ebook orders.

The UCL is the service centre for campus-wide procurement and licensing. The knowledge of the diverse licensing and distribution models of the publishers and consortia and the corresponding contacts are thus available to the libraries on campus.

Comprehensive service for six specialised libraries
From ordering to union cataloguing or ZDB and EZB cataloguing to invoice processing and budget control - we do all the work for six specialist libraries: Archaeology, Asian Studies, Slavic Studies, Sociology, Media Studies and Theatre, Economics, for journals partly in cooperation with other departmental libraries. The finished media are delivered - partly "shelf-ready" - to the Corporate Specialised Libraries. We organise the ongoing processing jointly (decentralised or centralised).

Digital Services
In addition to the book stock, we offer extensive e-media packages. Apart from that, we also provide very special digital services to make your study and working day at the University of Cologne easier.
Project coordination for retro-cataloging and data migration
One example is the project of the Faculty of Philosophy: The aim is to bring together all 1.9 million media in the faculty's 53 institute and seminar libraries in a single online catalogue. After catalogue data migration and retro-cataloguing, all titles can then be found in the university-wide search in the UCL-portal.
The UCL coordinates this project. It is financed by the Faculty of Philosophy.

The specialist and institute libraries of the University of Cologne often possess treasures of a special kind: e.g. research objects such as the collection of copies or the coin collection of the Institute for Classical Studies.
Separate collections such as reprints, bequests, special handsets or graphic collections require special treatment for their indexing.
