To activate your library card, please contact our “Library Cards & Interlibrary Loan Returns” desk on the ground floor of the main department. (Service hours)

Important! Please bring the following documents with you:

• Personal identification, which provides proof of residence in Germany, as well as a registration certification (Meldesbescheinigung) or residence permit from the Citizens Registration Office (Bürgeramt)
• Students from other universities: Student ID card
• Employees of the University of Cologne: Proof of employment (pdf, 88KB)
• Pupils: Pupils card
• Minors or underage individuals: Declaration of consent (pdf, 9KB) from a parent or legal guardian, together with personal identification (copy) of this parent or legal guardian
• Exemption from the yearly fee

Once you have received your library card number and been assigned a password, log in to the “meineUSB” app (Google Play / App Store) or under “My Account” in the university catalog.

Can't come during our opening hours?
Then please send us the completed annual fee form (pdf, 130 kb) and copies of all the documents listed above by email to ortsleiheub.uni-koeln.de.

Your library card number will be sent to you by email.

Renew your existing cards by sending an e-mail to the lending services (Ortsleihe).

You can obtain your replacement card at the Library Cards & Interlibrary Loan Returns counter.

Please bring photo ID and 10 Euro.
