Gold on the moon? Professor Manfeldt starts a rocket expedition with an illustrious crew: his friend Helius, chief engineer Windegger together with his fiancée Friede (with whom Helius is in love), and agent Turner, who has stolen the plans of the rocket. As soon as they land on the moon, a merciless fight breaks out, and after an act of sabotage on the rocket, a momentous decision has to be made...
Before »Woman in the Moon«, Gisela Steinhauer, editor and presenter at Deutschlandfunk Kultur and WDR, Philine Maurus-Bujard, daughter of the leading actress Gerda Maurus, and media scientist Prof. Dr. Lisa Gotto talk about the significance of the film and about the leading actress Gerda Maurus in a short interview.We show this silent film classic from 1929 with live soundtrack by pianist Matthias Hirth.

Before »Spies« , Gisela Steinhauer, editor and presenter at Deutschlandfunk Kultur and WDR, the literary scholar Dr. Andre Kagelmann and the media scholar Prof. Dr. Lisa Gotto talk about the genre of agent thrillers and the author of the three films, Thea von Harbou.
The evening will be musically introduced by silent film musician and composer Richard Siedhoff, who takes a classical approach to film music.

»Metropolis«, an icon of film history. The Argentine composer Martin Matalon has tailored a new soundtrack for the original version of Fritz Lang's expressionist silent film, reconstructed in 2010, which the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne will present in concert: in opulent orchestral colours as diverse as a futuristic metropolis.
