Spring cleaning

Your Uni. Your library. Let's clean up!

Our outdoor area, which is supposed to be a green place for rest and relaxation, is unfortunately littered with rubbish, cigarette butts and bottle caps every day. We clean our grounds regularly, but we simply can't keep up with the rubbish problem.

But together we can do something about it!
On 24 April from 10 to 14, we will meet in front of the library to clean up our campus and make it a pleasant place again.
Bring your friends, family and neighbours and let's make a difference together!

We will provide gloves, rubbish bags and other utensils to ensure the campaign runs smoothly. Drinks will also be provided!
After the work is done, we invite all helpers to a small get-together to thank them for their commitment.
Every helping hand counts, so join us and help us to beautify our campus and make it a place where everyone can feel comfortable. Together we can make a difference.

Procedure: 24 April 2024

  • Time: 10 to 14
  • Meeting point: In front of the entrance of the UCL, Universitätsstraße 33, 50931 Cologne
  • Procedure: Welcome, explanation of the programme, waste collection, get-together

Status Quo

Cigarettes on the floor
Litter on the green spaces
Rubbish in a pond

Our vision

To ensure that the clean-up campaign has a lasting effect, we want to raise awareness among university students and UCL employees about not carelessly throwing rubbish on the floor. We also want to think together about how we can prevent rubbish from being created in the first place. To this end, working groups are planned, signs will be put up to raise awareness and cigarette and bottle cap collection points will be set up.

Blechwech e.V.

With our BlechWech project, we want to recycle crown caps of all kinds.
They can be found almost everywhere and, unfortunately, the small pieces of tin usually end up not only in the rubbish, but primarily in our parks or on the streets.
