December 2023: Guidelines for the implementation and commissioning of plagiarism detection software finalised

December 2023: New contract with Elsevier

At the beginning of September 2023, the DEAL consortium signed a new contract with Elsevier. We will inform you as soon as we have information about the University of Cologne joining.

At the beginning of September 2023, the DEAL consortium concluded a new contract with Elsevier. The University of Cologne is joining the contract with retroactive effect from 1 September 2023. This means that researchers and students at the University of Cologne and scientists at the University Hospital Cologne have reading access to almost the entire journal portfolio.

July 2023: We are also participating in KOALA.

We are also participating in KOALA.

Starting in January 2023, a total of six titles from the media and social sciences will be jointly funded by almost 70 different institutions for three years.

Among other things, the KOALA consortium model is intended to offer authors the opportunity to publish Open Access without additional costs and bureaucratic effort.

April 2023: DFG project SOCIOS has started.

As part of the DFG project SOCIOS, we are developing a digital publication platform for collaborative writing and open peer review in the social sciences in cooperation with four social science information services. The platform uses the potential of Open Science to achieve faster and more flexible publication results in social science discourse in a fair, sustainable and quality-assured manner.

March 2023: Open Access Publications Mercator Institute / Waxmann Publisher - Pilot Project

In a pilot project, we are jointly funding the following three monographs by the Mercator Institute for Language Development and German as a Second Language as open access publications by Waxmann Publisher.

January 2023: Open Access News

The UCL Cologne has joined further Open Access agreements of various publishers. For you as a member of the University of Cologne, the publication of Open Access journal articles is therefore free of charge.

  1. New additions are: Emerald, Annual Reviews, Benjamins, MSP and PLOS.
  2. At MDPI, you now get a 10% discount on your publication.
  3. The DEAL contracts have been renewed until 31.12.2023.
