Guidelines and Policies

Publication Policy of the University of Cologne

The University of Cologne’s Publication Guidelines are intended for researchers who publish, temporary visiting scholars, and early-career researchers.

The guidelines define the standardized spelling of the university’s name in the affiliation information for all publications. In addition, the guidelines provide information on the correct citation of other affiliations, such as faculties, institutes, and externally funded projects, as well as on how to handle dual or multiple affiliations:

Open Access Policy of the University of Cologne

The culture of science is undergoing a fundamental transformation: Open Access (OA) is changing not only the publishing landscape, but also the way in which knowledge is generated, disseminated, and used. Free access to research results promotes transparency, networking, and innovation, and strengthens the societal impact of science.

As the University of Cologne, we recognize this development and therefore explicitly support—in addition to the Guidelines for Good Scientific Practice (GWP)—the principles of Open Science and Open Access. Members of the university are required to adhere to these guidelines.
