We support open access projects based on the Purchase to Open (P2O) model.

Purchase to Open is a collaborative funding model in which academic libraries jointly secure the acquisition of individual, selected new publications. Once the required number of participants is reached, the titles are published immediately as open-access publications.

The model combines the traditional collection development of academic libraries with the promotion of Open Access and makes an important contribution to the sustainable transformation of scholarly publishing.

The University and City Library of Cologne has been collaborating for many years on behalf of the university with various open access projects to promote the free publication of scholarly monographs.
